As proof of vaccination becomes more relevant to our day-to-day lives, from dining out to travel plans, figuring out what to do with those small, oddly shaped documents has become more pressing. If you’re like our editors, your vaccine card has likely been photographed, added to an app, then put aside in a (somewhat) secure place. But for situations when you need the physical card, or want to have it with you just in case—say, when boarding an international flight or checking into a hotel that’s requiring all guests prove their vaccination status—you’ll want to bring it with you in such a way that it won’t get wet, crinkled, or frayed.
We asked editors to share the products they’re using as vaccine card holders, which range from those clear plastic sleeves, which are a great way to protect your card (whether its the original or a photocopy) to travel wallets with detachable crossbody chains. We’ve added a few more options to shop below, too, from Traveler-favorite brands like Ashya and Clare V.
I’m mostly just keeping a digital copy of my vaccination card on my phone, but when I need the physical version, I stash it in my Lululemon Everything Belt Bag. It’s my new everyday bag, given how light and low-profile it is, and has several pockets for easy access to important items like my vaccination card. For future trips, I’m eyeing the Kibou bag, a fanny pack meets diaper bag that keeps things organized. —Stephanie Wu, digital director
I’ve had my poor vaccine card floating around in my tote protected only by a Ziploc bag for the past few months. It hadn’t even crossed my mind to purchase a specific vaccine holder until my mom came to visit me in New York and presented me with this resealable plastic sleeve. With it, I feel safe throwing my vaccine card into any of my bags—from the fanny pack I use while biking to my work tote—without worrying about it getting bent or water damaged. This one comes in three, five, and 10 packs, so you can be a hero (like my mom) and distribute any extras to your friends and family. —Mercedes Bleth, senior social media manager
I carry a small card holder as a wallet so there’s no way for me to carry my card in a safe, unfolded, unwrinkled way. I think it’s time to invest in a whole new wallet set-up for when I travel with my vaccine card, to keep it and the rest of my travel documents safe. I love this Clare V. wallet for its zipper closure, plus tons of card slots and other pockets to keep things like vaccine cards, plane tickets, and more protected. It can even convert into a petite cross-body bag with a removable chain, sold separately. —Meredith Carey, travel bookings editor
My vaccine card has been floating around in my medicine bag for the last few months, but ahead of an upcoming trip, I’m finally trading up with a dedicated holder. This leather sleeve looks like a luggage tag, and is made to fit COVID-19 vaccination cards under a clear sleeve. Plus, it has a detachable clip in case I want to hook it onto keys or my backpack. —Madison Flager, commerce editor
