Kyle Patterson, 41, threatened to damage carts he recovered off the store’s residence if he failed to get compensation for returning them, according to the city.

BOULDER, Colo. — A Town of Boulder employee has been billed with felony extortion relevant to two incidents of threatening to ruin purchasing carts at a Full Meals Market, according to the town.

According to the release, an employee at a neighborhood grocery keep submitted a law enforcement report declaring a metropolis employee had two times requested for “payment” for returning the store’s carts. The retail store staff stated the male had threatened to wipe out the carts if he was not compensated.

A town spokesperson claimed the incidents occurred on Nov. 12 and Dec. 1 at the Complete Foodstuff at 2905 Pearl St. The metropolis worker experienced recovered the carts from cleanup efforts in parks and encampments, the spokesperson mentioned.

The town worker allegedly requested food stuff or a food in trade for the carts, the spokesperson reported.

Based on the description of the town personnel and further investigation, Boulder Law enforcement discovered Kyle Patterson, 41, as the suspect, the information release says.

Patterson is a general public area reclamation expert and is accountable for, among other things, removing particles, trash and other unwanted items from public areas.

“As a metropolis business, we are deeply unhappy to understand of these allegations. Our staff have a steadfast motivation to public provider,” reported City Supervisor Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde in the release. “Obviously this unique is entitled to a reasonable court docket approach, but the particulars delivered to the police department by our grocery retail outlet companions are troubling. We value them bringing their worries to police’s interest.”

Patterson was employed by the town in August and is on unpaid administrative leave, in accordance to the release.
